Consulting & Advisory Services
Informed buyers make better decisions. Trained operators make better production. DCA exists for both.

Not sure what you need? That’s exactly where we start.
Die Cutting Advisors offers consulting and advisory services for manufacturers who are evaluating die cutting equipment and aren’t sure what solution is right for their operation. This is different from our manufacturer’s representative role: as a consultant, DCA has no agenda to sell you any specific piece of equipment. Our job is to understand your production needs and give you an honest assessment of what will actually solve your problem — regardless of who makes it.
Consulting vs. Manufacturer’s Representative: What’s the Difference?

Who This Service Is For
DCA’s consulting services are a good fit for manufacturers who:
- Are evaluating die cutting equipment for the first time and aren’t sure which type of press — clamshell, flatbed, rotary, or other — is right for their production
- Are replacing or upgrading aging equipment and want an objective second opinion before committing to a specific direction
- Have a specific production problem — throughput bottleneck, quality issues, material handling challenges — and need help identifying the root cause and the right solution
- Are expanding capacity and want to understand their equipment options across multiple manufacturers before making a capital investment decision
- Have already received a recommendation from a dealer or sales rep and want an independent perspective before they commit
What to Expect
Every consulting engagement starts with a conversation about your operation. DCA will ask about your current equipment, what you’re cutting, your production volumes, your facility layout, and what’s not working. From there, we assess your needs against the full landscape of available equipment — not just the equipment we sell.
Depending on your situation, DCA can help you:
FAQ
Yes. When DCA is engaged in a consulting capacity, the goal is to recommend whatever solution is the right fit — regardless of which manufacturer makes it. DCA will recommend a Crest press if it’s the right answer. If a different press is a better fit, DCA will recommend that instead. The consulting service exists specifically for manufacturers who want unbiased guidance, not a sales pitch.
DCA has deep experience across clamshell die cutting, rotary die cutting, flatbed die cutting, and related converting and finishing equipment. As the exclusive North American representative for Crest Clamshell Die Cutters and Crista Automation, and through a broader network of equipment partners — including Preco Systems, Freeman Schwabe, B&R Moll, Acu-Gage Systems, F Service Automation, and Kensol-Franklin — DCA can evaluate a wide range of production solutions.
An equipment dealer’s job is to sell you their product. A consultant’s job is to solve your problem. DCA’s consulting service is structured around your production requirements, not around what DCA happens to have in inventory. If you call a Crest dealer, you’re going to hear about Crest presses. If you work with DCA as a consultant, you’re going to hear about whatever actually fits your operation.
Standalone consulting engagements are billed at $250 per hour plus direct expenses such as test dies or materials. Before any billable time begins, DCA will give you a clear sense of scope and cost so there are no surprises.
Yes. Existing Crest customers receive up to one hour of consulting at no charge — if your question is straightforward, we'll answer it without starting a clock. Beyond that, engagements are billed at the standard $250 per hour plus expenses. Manufacturers with a Crest press on order receive initial consulting support at no charge as part of the purchase process — we're invested in making sure your equipment is set up for success from day one.
The more context the better, but you don’t need to have everything figured out. Helpful information includes: what you’re currently cutting and on what equipment, your approximate production volumes, any specific production problems you’re experiencing, and a general sense of your budget range. But if you’re starting from scratch, that’s fine too — DCA can help you frame the right questions.
